Most of my working life was spent in the Probation Service, working with adult offenders in the community and within prison settings. Resident in Silverdale since 2001, a Parish Councillor since 2007, previously Chair for 11 years, I manage four areas of woodland in the parish and am a volunteer with the National Trust conservation team. My skills in leadership and development, communication and networking are useful as manager of Silverdale Scout Group and Chair of the Silverdale Village Institute Trustees. As a councillor, I strive to be visible, accessible, and approachable within the community. Working Group responsibilities for the Parish Council include Woodland Management, Wells and Quarries, Tender Documents, and the website. I also liaise between the Parish Council and the National Trust, Lancaster Area Committee of Town Councils (LACTC) and AONB regarding the Trowbarrow Nature Reserve.

My family and I have been residents of Silverdale since 2011 and enjoy having an active role in its vibrant community. My background crosses many sectors from Tourism to Finance which enables me to bring a variety of experiences to my role as Deputy Clerk. My main duty is to record the minutes of the monthly Parish Council meetings and produce minutes that are both accurate and informative, particularly for those residents who are not able to attend the meetings but who like to keep abreast of developments within the Parish Council.

Mrs L.D. (Denise) Challenor

Clerk

I have been the Clerk for Silverdale Parish Council since November 2007, following in the footsteps of my late husband Peter, who was Clerk for six years. My knowledge was gained not only from Peter and the training I undertook, but also from my time as Clerk for Heversham Parish Council dating back to 2001, which position ran alongside my post as Clerk for Silverdale for a couple of years. It proved a bit challenging at times liaising with two different District, Town, and County Councils!
