Keith Reed
Having lived in Silverdale since 1999, I joined the Parish Council in 2021 and took responsibility for the Planning, Net Zero Carbon and Transport and Access Working Groups. I have created a matrix for commenting on planning applications and have worked on various initiatives in relation to climate change, working closely with the City Council and others. I also lead work on public transport, traffic management, parking, and active travel, liaising with other organisations such as the County Council, National Landscape Partnership, RSPB, and the National Trust. I represent the Council on the National Landscape (formerly AONB) Executive Committee. Before retirement in 2018, I had 44 years’ experience in planning and transport, including Director of Environment and Development for Manchester and County Environment Officer for Berkshire. During 15 years as a planning consultant, I led work on planning in protected landscapes through management roles at the South Downs National Park. Throughout my career I have developed policies on sustainable development, environmental protection and climate change. I am Chair of the Silverdale Art Group, a Trustee of Gaskell Hall and a member of Silverdale Golf Club.
