Trains
Many of you have complained about trains passing through, but not stopping at, Silverdale. Your Council has made strong representations to Network Rail, the train operating companies and via our MP, Geraldine Smith. So far, we have been totally unsuccessful in our efforts to improve matters, but we will continue, nevertheless.
Silverdale Shuttle
This service is under-used and is losing a lot of money. The County Council has threatened to close it, but has given it a short-term reprieve. The simple message is Use It or lose It.
Playing Field
Most of you will have seen the landscaping and new entrance, at our Playing Field, on Cove Road. We are very much indebted to Mr Paul Holgate for this magnificent finishing touch.
Clerk
Our Clerk has become incapacitated by an incurable degenerative brain disease, and no longer feels able to cope with the Parish Councils of both Arnside and Silverdale. After serving us for more than 5 years, he has decided to resign, at the end of June. He will be succeeded by Vivienne Shiels, from Storth.
Tribute must be paid to our Deputy Clerk, who has worked tirelessly to keep the show on the road during Peter’s enforced absence. She did not want to be appointed Clerk, but is happy to continue to support our community. Her support has been greatly appreciated by us all.
