D-DAY BEACON THIS EVENING

Today (6th June) is the 80th anniversary of D-Day and there will be beacons lit throughout the country tonight in commemoration of this event. Silverdale will have its beacon at the Jubilee Monument, aka Pepper Pot, and will be lit at 9.15pm. People are welcome to join us but please wear appropriate clothing and footwear and bring a torch! If you are unable to join us then perhaps spend a few moments thinking about those brave men and women who participated on that day, in particular our own local resident John Eden who sadly passed away recently.
